Dr Tan Rui Qi is a psychiatrist and psychodynamic therapist in Singapore, with a subspecialty interest in geriatric psychiatry. With more than a decade of experience in the field, she believes in delivering holistic and collaborative person-centred care.

During her tenure with Changi General Hospital (CGH), she helmed multiple roles. Besides providing psychiatric care to adults of all ages, she also led the inpatient psychiatric services as the primary psychogeriatric ward consultant. Through consultation liaison, she collaborated with other medical and surgical specialties to provide expert advice for their patients. She was also appointed the psychiatry clinical lead of the Eastern General Hospital (EGH) Planning Committee to oversee the development of the service in the new hospital.

As a current visiting consultant of several nursing homes, Dr Tan works closely with community partners to deliver optimal psychiatric care to their residents. Being conversant in Mandarin and Teochew has enabled her to pursue her passion in this area better.

Dr Tan has been practising psychodynamic psychotherapy since 2014. She is part of the local pioneer batch which graduated from the Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) Core Training Program in February 2023. With these skills, she hopes to continue to facilitate patients in their self-discovery journey to their most authentic selves.

She is also heavily involved in medical education and has been appointed clinical faculty educator in various medical schools in Singapore, including Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at National University of Singapore (NUS), Duke-NUS and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKC).
