Dr Christopher Chan 

MBBS, M Med (Psychiatry), FAMS 

Dr Christopher Chan is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist in Singapore with a private practice at the Psychiatric Care Clinic in Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre. He has a subspecialty interest in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders. He believes in having a warm, holistic, patient centered and shared decision making approach to delivering effective care. 

He is currently a visiting consultant at the Mood Disorders Unit (MDU) at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH). During his tenure at IMH, he led the Affective Disorders Service, which is the only quaternary service for the management of treatment resistant mood disorders in Singapore and was the primary ward consultant at the MDU, which is the only subspecialized inpatient unit for the treatment of mood disorders in Singapore. 

He is currently the vice-chairman of the section of neurostimulation as part of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He played an integral role in the modernization of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and the development of the repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) service at IMH. During this period, he was actively involved in research and was awarded grants from the NHG LKC clinician scientist preparatory program and IMH. He has made numerous presentations at international medical conferences, notably leading a symposium on mood disorders at the International Society of Affective Disorders in 2018 and has published extensively in many peer-reviewed international and local journals. 

He was also heavily involved in education and was an appointed clinical faculty educator with various institutions including Duke-NUS, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKC), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at National University Singapore (NUS) and the Graduate Diploma in Mental Health (GDMH).

Dr Tan Rui Qi

MBBS, MRCPsych (UK), FAMS 

Dr Tan Rui Qi is a psychiatrist and psychodynamic therapist in Singapore, with a subspecialty interest in geriatric psychiatry. With more than a decade of experience in the field, she believes in delivering holistic and collaborative person-centred care. 

During her tenure with Changi General Hospital (CGH), she helmed multiple roles. Besides providing psychiatric care to adults of all ages, she also led the inpatient psychiatric services as the primary psychogeriatric ward consultant. Through consultation liaison, she collaborated with other medical and surgical specialties to provide expert advice for their patients. She was also appointed the psychiatry clinical lead of the Eastern General Hospital (EGH) Planning Committee to oversee the development of the service in the new hospital.

As a current visiting consultant of several nursing homes, Dr Tan works closely with community partners to deliver optimal psychiatric care to their residents. Being conversant in Mandarin and Teochew has enabled her to pursue her passion in this area better.

Dr Tan has been practising psychodynamic psychotherapy since 2014. She is part of the local pioneer batch which graduated from the Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) Core Training Program in February 2023. With these skills, she hopes to continue to facilitate patients in their self-discovery journey to their most authentic selves.

She is also heavily involved in medical education and has been appointed clinical faculty educator in various medical schools in Singapore, including Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at National University of Singapore (NUS), Duke-NUS and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKC).
