Psychiatry in Singapore 

Psychiatrists in Singapore are medically trained specialists, with the expertise in assessing, diagnosing and treating mental health conditions. Most of our psychiatrists are trained locally, where there is a robust training system, which currently involves a 5-year residency program (ACGME accredited), followed by at least 2 years as an Associate Consultant. Many psychiatrists choose to subspecialise further into areas such as mood disorders, child and adolescent psychiatry, neurostimulation and old age psychiatry.

Singapore provides an excellent level of psychiatric care, with modern and up-to-date treatments readily available. Psychiatric care is available at all public hospitals, such as the Institute of Mental Health, National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and private clinics. In addition, non-specialists (usually general practitioners) can also provide psychiatric care and treatment.
